Jammu, May 27 (KNO): Security forces on Tuesday launched a large-scale anti-terror operation in the upper reaches of Kathua district, following intelligence reports of suspected terrorist movements in the region. Official sources told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) the operation was launched in Lowang and Sarthal in Bani areas this morning. “It involves a coordinated effort by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF),” they said, adding. “The operation is part of an ongoing area domination exercise aimed at neutralizing potential threats and ensuring the safety of civilians in the region.” They said that security forces are conducting thorough search operations in thick forests and remote areas of Kathua. The operation has been underway for several days, with forces maintaining a high state of alertness to prevent any untoward incidents. “The operation was prompted by credible information regarding the presence of suspected terrorists in the region. The search efforts are focused on dismantling any potential terror infrastructure and ensuring the region remains secure. As of now, the operation has concluded peacefully in some areas, with no reported casualties or engagements with terrorists,” they added—(KNO)
